Lucy and Kristie are interviewed by Clarin, Argentina’s biggest selling newspaper, and this is closely followed by a piece in Newsweek about foreigners in Buenos Aires, in which Lucy is interviewed.
SEPTEMBER 2006 | Our first Podcast
Kristie and Lucy are interviewed on www.expatpodcast.com by A.R. Thompson, founder of TEFLocal Buenos Aires. During September The Argentimes also bids a fond farewell to Jimmy Lloyd, the paper’s first intern, and welcomes on board Chiara Gargano, Jeremy Hollinger and Mark Orton.
SEPTEMBER 2006 | Networking Party
The Argentimes also hosted their first networking night in conjunction with the California Burrito Company [www.californiaburritoco.com]. The night was a huge success with the tasty ‘chips and dips’ enjoyed by all, courtesy of the guys at CBC.
AUGUST 2006 | Interview by Sophia magazine
The Argentimes editors, Lucy and Kristie, are interviewed for an article in Sophia magazine [www.vivisophia.com], a national monthly magazine, in a feature about women making the move to Argentina...Gente here we come!
JULY 2006 | Americas Journalism Training
The Argentimes makes a deal with Americas Journalism Training [www.ajtexperience.com] to bring interns down to write on the newspaper, allowing the paper to grow and increase distribution from January 2007, when The Argentimes will also move offices.
JULY 2006 | All change in the design team
The Argentimes also says a sorry farewell to Amy Wallace, graphic designer, and hello to the first Argentine permanent member of the team, Matías Gibaut [www.mgibaut.com] who will take over the creative side of the paper.
JUNE 2006 | Launch party
Thank you to everyone who attended The Argentimes launch party on 1st June to celebrate the inaugural edition of the newspaper. The party was held at The Cocker [www.thecocker.com], a recently-renovated boutique guesthouse in San Telmo. The night was filled with champagne kindly donated by Frances Mallman of Patagonia Sur [www.restaurantepatagoniasur.com] and delicious canapés made by Elsa of Cook, Catering y Cursos: elsamanelphe@hotmail.com.
The night was filmed by Reuters, and the Australian Ambassador was kind enough to make an appearance.
Kate Stanworth arrives out from the UK on a one-way ticket and starts snapping photos from touchdown. The Argentimes team is complete.
MAY 2006 | New team members
The Argentimes welcomes Terrence Sullivan and Jimmy Lloyd who are writers, interns and friends, to be the first staff members to help us get the show on the road!
MARCH 2006 | The first edition
Editors Kristie and Lucy, and graphic designer Amy Wallace move to Buenos Aires to begin The Argentimes adventure. They have ten weeks and a whirlwind of meetings arranged to get things off the ground before the first edition.
NOV 2005 | Fundraiser @ The Chapel Bar, N1
Thank you to everyone who atended The Argentimes fundraiser in London in November and helped make the night a success. Proceeds from ticket sales and the popular raffle raised a further 850 pounds towards the paper.
