JULY 2007 | Winter expansion

Kristie returned just in time to enjoy the snow on Independence Day and bring the paper into winter with new energy, much needed to embrace the extended paper, now 32 pages every two weeks.

The new look Argentimes includes more fashion and interviews, an expanded current affairs section and a regular restaurant review by food critic Katharine Pottinger. We have also added a letters page to accommodate all the feedback the paper has been getting, both positive and negative. To add your comment please email us at letters@theargentimes.com

JUNE 2007 | Birthday time!

The Argentimes celebrates its first birthday party in style at the prestigious Braga Menéndez Art Gallery on Wednesday 6th June. More than 500 guests from the fields of journalism, tourism, the arts and commerce came along to the party, as well as some more well-known faces, such as Argentine icon Susana Giménez, Boy Olmi and celebrated chef Frances Mallman. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us since last June. Here’s to many more successful years!

The event was covered in InfoBAE and El Federal magazines.

After the birthday event, editor Kristie went on a long-overdue visit to the UK, the first time home in nearly 18 months. In her absence Kate Stanworth, head of photography and art correspondent extraordinaire, took on the role of acting editor, doing a storming job coordinating the editorial team for three weeks.

June also saw the paper bid farewell to Mark Orton, Marianna Davis, Charlotte Turner and Michael Aidan, all from the editorial team. Mark in particular will be sorely missed, as he was the paper’s longest-serving journalist. Having joined the team in September 2006, he worked day and night, and often weekends, to help get the paper to the printers on time.

MAY 2007 | Team growth

The Argentimes enters a new era with three new people joining Lauren on the advertising side under the direction of Sebastian Alderete – Katherine Williams, Michelle Bijio and Claudia Chab, whilst Lauren starts winding down her role before her departure in June.

Andrew Velasco, another new face, takes on the role of Business Development intern, working on the marketing and generating new interest in the paper.

The photography department expands with the arrival of Sanra Ritten, taking on the role of photographer and journalist, and helping to alleviate Kate’s workload on the visual side of the paper. Sanra is quick to take up the challenge, drawing and creating images when photographs fall through.

The editorial team has three new arrivals from the US, thanks to AJT – Jackie Whipple, Lyndsey Nelson and Lyndy Yossundharakul, who start just in time for the Argentimes first birthday party.

APRIL 2007 | A new era

After playing a key role in making The Argentimes' first year a success, Lucy has decided to devote her time to other challenging projects. We thank her for her dedication and hard work.

MARCH 2007 | Interview by Para Ti magazine

While Lucy is sunning herself in Australia on a well-deserved break, editor Kristie is interviewed by Para Ti magazine.

Charlotte Turner also joins the editorial team.

FEBRUARY 2007 | New people and a new look

The first new-look Argentimes hits the streets, with a new sports page, an enhanced reviews section, and a regular section called ‘Buenos Aires Lives’ – an interview with someone living in BA who is from outside of Argentina, doing something interesting. First interviewee is Angelique Xanthopoulis, founder of InsightArgentina, an NGO based in the capital.

The Argentimes also welcomes its first Argentine intern – Maria Agustina Izurieta, a journalism student, who will be with us for the near future.

Lauren Saffa also joins Lucy in the role of Publishing Assistant.

JANUARY 2007 | All change

Due to the media coverage, and in order for the paper to grow, it is decided that Lucy and Kristie will break down their roles, and Lucy takes on the position of publisher of The Argentimes, and Kristie becomes sole editor.

The paper also bids farewell to Chiara and Jeremy, and welcomes Laura Balfour, Marianna Davis and Michael Aidan on to the editorial team. Mark is also meant to be leaving but (lucky for the paper) due to Air Madrid’s recent troubles, he is unable to physically leave the country and will remain with the team until June.
